Why I Love Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve
Published On: August, 2021
As a young girl, Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve was the first national park that I visited. Seeing animals in the wild made me humble, even though I was two feet tall. Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve holds a special place in my heart. A park not as famous as Kruger, but for me, that’s just what gives Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve that extra touch of special.
I still visit Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park almost every week. I know about all animals, big and small. From the majestic elephant to the interesting dung beetle. I have learned about the seasons, the best spots for photos, places to enjoy a scenic lunch, and much more. I noticed that even South Africans don’t know much about this jewel. And internationals were finding it hard to obtain information about Hluhluwe Game Reserve. So I bundled all my knowledge, with some local guides and other experts, to develop this new website. With the launch of the new Hluhluwe Game Reserve website, information is easily accessible regarding day visits and the services Under African Skies offers.
I have had most of my memorable wildlife experiences at Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve.
These are my best three experiences:
- The one that sticks out the most was my first wilderness trail. Not knowing what to expect but we did it anyway. My sister, who is my partner in anything adrenaline pumping and her husband joined me on this adventure. This experience was out of this world. I have been on several wilderness trails since. With every trail encounter being different. Once you have been on trail you will realise it’s an experience for the body, mind and soul.
- Watching the sunrise and sunset. The night sky is an astronomical experience, as the moon, the stars and even the milky way are clearer than you have ever imagined.
- Sitting around the campfire listening to the animal calls which travel long distances at night. Tranquillity and peacefulness of the Imfolozi Game Reserve.
Not only is the game reserve special to me on a personal level but also for the business. The name Under African Skies was thought of, whilst looking at the night sky on a wilderness trail. And this is when I decided that I wanted to feel like I am never going to work a day in my life again, so here I am working my passion job.
